General Information
ESGA Senior Team Championship & Cup
The European Senior Team Championship and Cup is an annual tournament of the European Senior Golf Association (ESGA), open to male amateur golfers of ESGA Members. All players must be at least 55 years of age at any time of the year. Every player must conform in all respects to the Rules of Amateur Status
ESGA members may enter one team for the Championship and one for the Cup.
Entries must be made by e-mail or via the website to the organizing country at the latest four months before the competition, while players’ names, handicaps and rankings must be announced two weeks before the first day of the tournament. No substitutions are permitted after the captains meeting. After the competition. The handicap of winners may be verified.
Challenge Raymond Barbier (The Championship)
Trophy was presented by the Association Sportive de Golfeurs de France. Raymond Barbier was an excellent and keen senior golfer who many European tournaments and contributed to the development of the French Association from 1931
ESGA members may enter one team of six players, with the exact individual handicap restricted to 12.0 at the time of entry.
Challenge William o’Babb (The Cup)
William o’Babb was an active British banker who ended his career in Luxemburg, where he contributed to the development of the senior golf activity at a European level and helped directly the first president of ESGA
For the Cup, ESGA members may enter one team of six players with the exact individual handicap restricted to 20.0 at the time of entry but limited to 16.0 in the competition. The handicap of winners may be verified.
ESGA Super Seniors 65⁺ & Cup
Challenge Ivan Maura (Championship)
The Trophy was presented by the Association Sportive des Seniors golfeurs de France. In Spain, Ivan Maura was amateur Golf Champion in 1952,1953 and 1954, with a broad reputation thanks to his participation in tournaments in France, against famous Americans and British golfers to male amateur golfers of ESGA Members. All players must be at least 65 years of age at any time of the year..
ESGA members may enter one team of six players, with the exact individual handicap reserved to 18.0. The Championship shall be played over 54 holes Strokeplay on three consecutive days, 18 holes per day, gross without handicap allowance.
Challenge Adriaan de Bruin (Cup)
Adriaan de Bruijn was the first President of ESGA and played a major role in its development CUP
For the Cup, ESGA Members may enter one team of six players with the exact individual handicap restricted to 24.0 at the time of entry, but limited to 20,0 in the competition. The handicap of winners may be verified.
ESGA Masters 70-75⁺ Championship & Cup
Challenge Antonio C. Rebelo (Gross)
The trophy was presented by the Associacāo Nacional Seniores de Golfe of Portugal in memory of their past president and vice president of ESGA
Open to male amateur golfers of ESGA Members. The players must be at least 70 (max 3 players) and the rest at least 75 years of age at any time of the year. Since 2019, an ESGA Masters Trophy is from 2026 on organized , for a team of 6 seniors.
ESGA Members may enter one team of six players, with the exact individual handicap restricted to 24,0 at the time of entry. The handicap of winners may be verified.
The Championship shall be played over 54 holes Stableford on three consecutive days, 18 holes per day. There are awarded a gross competition and a net competition with handicap allowance. Day 1 and 2 is Fourball, Day 3 is single. Two best scores of first two days, and the four best scores from Day 3 will count for each team.
Challenge Phillipe Verstraeten (netto)
Phillippe Verstraeten played for 15 years a prominent role in the development and success of ESGA. He started as Secretary and Treasurer of the board in 1998 and was nominated President in the period 2010 - 2013
